Looking for a Beaconmon alternative?
Beaconmon and ShelfHawk make almost the same promise — watch your competitors, email you when a price moves. Beaconmon is cheaper, checks more often, and has a free tier. There is exactly one thing it cannot do, and for a lot of independent sellers it is the thing that matters: Beaconmon only sees Shopify and WooCommerce storefronts. No Etsy. No eBay. No Amazon.

Where each one wins, honestly
Beaconmon wins on price and speed of detection. ShelfHawk wins on where it can look and what it does once it finds something. Both are legitimate answers depending on where your competition actually sells.

The actual difference
A storefront monitor cannot see a marketplace listing
Tools that watch “any public store URL” work by loading a page and comparing what changed. That approach is fine for a Shopify or WooCommerce storefront, which is a straightforward web page with a price on it. It falls apart on marketplaces, where the same product has variants, item groups, multiple sellers, and a listing structure that a generic page-differ reads as noise.
ShelfHawk handles each marketplace on its own terms — Etsy listings through Etsy's API, eBay through the Browse API with item-group fallback, Shopify through its public product data, Amazon through a dedicated adapter. That is why a rival's eBay variant listing and their Shopify product page can sit in the same watchlist and produce the same clean alert.
The second difference is what follows the alert. Beaconmon tells you the price moved. If you sell on Shopify, ShelfHawk can move yours in response, inside guardrails you set, and log what it did and why. If a rival undercuts you on a Saturday morning, the difference between a notification and an action is a weekend of sales.
Our actual recommendation
Which one you should buy
Pick Beaconmon if you run a Shopify or WooCommerce store, your competitors run Shopify or WooCommerce stores, and none of them sell on a marketplace you care about. It is cheaper per tracked competitor, it detects changes far faster than twice a day, and its free tier lets you test the idea before paying anything.
Pick ShelfHawk if any part of your competitive set lives on Etsy, eBay or Amazon, if you sell across more than one channel yourself, or if you want the tool to reprice your Shopify store rather than just report. From $39/month with a 14-day free trial.
We lose the price comparison here and we are not going to hide it. What we will claim is that a Shopify-only monitor is the right tool only if your competition is Shopify-only — and for most independent sellers we talk to, it is not.
Common questions
Beaconmon vs ShelfHawk FAQs
Is Beaconmon cheaper than ShelfHawk?
Yes, at every tier, and it has a free plan we do not match. Beaconmon runs $0 for 1 competitor, $29 for 5, $79 for 25 and $199 for unlimited. ShelfHawk is $39 for 5, $79 for 15 and $149 for 30. If you run a Shopify or WooCommerce store and your rivals are all on the same platforms, Beaconmon gives you more tracked competitors per dollar and we would rather say so plainly.
What does ShelfHawk cover that Beaconmon does not?
Marketplaces. Beaconmon monitors Shopify and WooCommerce storefronts — public store URLs. It does not cover Etsy, eBay or Amazon listings, which is where a large share of independent sellers actually compete. ShelfHawk tracks all four in one watchlist. If your competition includes an Etsy shop or an eBay seller, Beaconmon structurally cannot see them.
Does Beaconmon check more often?
On paid tiers, yes. Beaconmon advertises one-minute checks on Starter and thirty-second checks on its top tier. ShelfHawk checks once a day on Watch and twice a day on Watch + Suggest and above. For physical goods that is usually plenty — independent sellers do not reprice hourly — but if you need near-real-time detection on a storefront, Beaconmon is faster and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Does either one change my prices for me?
Only ShelfHawk. Beaconmon detects and reports changes; the response is yours to make by hand. ShelfHawk includes auto-pilot repricing on Watch + Suggest and Command, which adjusts the prices in your own Shopify store inside a margin floor and daily cap you set, logs every change with a reason, and skips anything outside your guardrails instead of acting on it. It is off until you turn it on, and it works with Shopify stores only.
